Black Lace and Vegan Leather Lingerie Inspired Refashion

Image
This refashion is a composite of: a tacky black and pink negligee with a bra top, a black "leather" floral tank top, a vintage "merry widow", and a black "leather" stretchy skirt. All of these items were purchased dirty cheap separately over the last two years, and I set them aside for the right inspiration to repurpose them.  The foundation of this top is the tacky, ruffled negligee pictured below. I really liked this black "leather" floral lace tank top, but..... it didn't fit well, and it wasn't (ahem) very supportive...  I decided to remove the tacky ruffles from the bra part of the negligee. The bra fits great, so it will be great for support and keeping the top in place. Then, I chopped off the sheer "skirt" part of the negligee. It was itchy, anyway. Next...... I pinned the black "leather" lace top and centered it over the bra. I sewed them together after I was sure that it ...

DIY Aerogarden 7 Reflector Power - Grow Light Booster

Image
We received an  Aerogarden 7  for Christmas. We are very excited to try gardening indoors, and we are hoping that this will be a jump on healthier living. Here's what it looks like on their website: Here's how it looks now.  We have set it up just a couple day ago, and I saw the Youtube video Grow Light Boosters Time Lapse: So, I decided to make one with what I had.  I cut open an oversized cardboard box. I cut a slit for the lamp power cord. Sized it to make sure it wrapped around only three sides. I ate a bag of chips with the family. For science. of course. I cut open the bag, cleaned it and used it for reflector material. I taped the bag, along with some aluminum foil to the box while taking care to make sure it folded up around the Aerogarden. Here it is, all set up. Wish us luck, please. I am hoping to get a bounty of herbs: basil, dill, cilantro, chives, parsley, thyme and mint.

Vintage Milk Bottle Turned DIY Diffuser Quickie DIY

Image
I found a vintage milk bottle while walking through a nature preserve near my home, and I was inspired to make a diffuser. This is the finished DIY project. I started with the bottle, after cleaning all the dirt that had built up inside and on it. The added charm is that is a half-pint (1940s era) from Sterling Davis Dairy, which was from Wrightstown, NJ. It makes me smile that I can give a forgotten item from my home state some new life. I have some Phlox plants that are in my front yard. It's the end of the season, so I cut off some dried stems for conducting the scented oil. This is the scented oil I chose. They are from the local Dollar Tree.  Sugar Cookie and Pumpkin Pie are very complementary. These are the Phlox stems, after I cut them. This is a cross-section of a stem. It acts as a straw. It's easy to cut and arrange the stems. The last step.... pour in the scented oils. The finished project:

DIY Quartz Points Hoops Inspired by Five and Two

Image
I was inspired to make set of silver hoops, when I spied a pair called BRYN from  Five and Two and pinned it to Cool Rockin' Jewels on Pinterest . I bought some pre-strung clear quartz points at the local Michaels, along with 2 pair of silver plated hoops. Then, I cut off some of the quartz points. I opened up each of the hoops.....   and threaded them onto the hoops. I closed them up, and they're ready for wearing!   Two done in less than 30 minutes. They're not an exact idea, but they're scaled just right, and not too heavy. I have leftovers. Anyone want me to make them a pair?

Busted up Nintendo Game Boy Original Upcycled to External Hard Drive

Image
It turns out that my older son has upcycling talents, too! He came across an original Nintendo Game Boy (1st gen), and he wanted to resurrect it. That didn't work out, so he decided to turn it into an external hard drive.     He gutted the Game Boy. He also has the hard drive and cord.   He had to do some trimming back of the plastic frame, to allow the cord to be able to make it through the side of the case.   The hard drive is in, and the cord now goes through.   The power light shines through here....   Last but not least.... foil to cover where the broken screen was.   Here's the back.... the cord can be safely tucked away when it's not in use. I'm so proud!!!!!
