Saint Salvage

I went to my local Goodwill store in Cardiff, NJ, to purchase a suit for my older son. As I was getting ready to check out, this bright red purse caught my eye. It looked like purses I saw as a teenager in the 80s. It's red leather with dyed python stripes.         The back looked great, including the back flap external pocket.   I opened the flap, and it looked immaculate inside!   Then, the payoff: Carlos Falchi! Score!!!!!!! 

A lot of people, including me are obsessed with Pinterest. A few weeks ago, I pinned a beautiful cuff by Mercedes Salazar , sold on Shopbop. I decided to upcycle a 1970s era Trifari two-toned choker I bought as part of a bulk bag deal at an estate sale, by using brass craft wire from the local Dollar Tree   a purple agate slice I purchased in August 2012 from  Sterling Hill Mine in Ogdensburg, NJ   and some Super Glue   I hammered the wire      twisted the wire, glued it and mounted it to the choker during my lunch break.        Shopbop's original price: $198.00 . It's on sale for $99 . I spent no more than $10 ! Woo hoo! A quickie DIY, and a stylish bargain! Saint Salvage strikes again.   

I just stumbled upon another source of DIY ideas and project: Polyvore ! It's not just a mood board! It brings back memories from things I wore in the 80s... very punk and edgy. Polyvore has a DIY project that looks very similar to the safety pin necklaces that I've seen by: Tom Binns Jennifer Fischer Cheap Monday and CC Skye So, here's what they had: DIY: Chain Bracelet by polyvore-editorial featuring brass jewelry It was from The Flight of Fancy. Of course, I am inspired to make my own. It will be a fun quicky DIY.
