Vintage Bargain Buy Screwback Earring Restyled as an Earcuff

Image
I was on a lunch break earlier this week, and I stumbled onto this vintage pair of screwback crystal earrings. They were marked $3.88, but I got them for 20% off, along with some other bargain goodies.  Anyway, I don't wear screwback or clip on earrings because they hurt my ears... but I turned them upside down (as shown in the photos). So....I put them over the tops of my ears, and twisted the screws until they stayed put. Gravity did the rest. Selfie time! Close up.... I got a lot of compliments at work from the other ladies. They loved my ear cuff, but they were annoyed that they were vintage.

DIY Quartz Points Hoops Inspired by Five and Two

Image
I was inspired to make set of silver hoops, when I spied a pair called BRYN from  Five and Two and pinned it to Cool Rockin' Jewels on Pinterest . I bought some pre-strung clear quartz points at the local Michaels, along with 2 pair of silver plated hoops. Then, I cut off some of the quartz points. I opened up each of the hoops.....   and threaded them onto the hoops. I closed them up, and they're ready for wearing!   Two done in less than 30 minutes. They're not an exact idea, but they're scaled just right, and not too heavy. I have leftovers. Anyone want me to make them a pair?

Helios Pendant: a Project from Wirework Magazine

I bought an issue of  Wirework Magazine  at the local  Books a Million Bookstore , and I found it to be loaded with lots of ideas. Oh, what to make???? I settled upon making my version of the Helios pendant, which was designed by Deborah L. Gray-Wurz . Her project is on pages 36 - 39 of the issue, is you want to follow this step by step. I decided to use 20 gauge brown wire and 26 gauge non-tarnish wrapping wire. The chain was a bulk oval link chain I bought at the local Michaels Craft Store . The accent "donut" shaped stone was also from Michaels, from the Bead Landing Collection, and on sale for $2.99 for a strung set of 4. The dangles.... the crystals were from an orphaned clip on earring. The tiny turquoise clusters above the yellow drops were from broken earrings. The center dangle and the yellow drops were from broken earrings, too. It took me about 2 hours to do this project.... Not too bad. Oh, yes.... the extender chai...
