Saint Salvage

I had a scratch on my "Blueberry" Dodge Caliber. Someone hit my car in a parking lot a few months back. Here's the scratch before attempting the repair.... Just above the passenger side rear wheel. I went to the local Walmart and spent $1.97 + tax for  Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Nail Polish 730 Frozen Glacier I had a four-sided nail buffing block already onhand. After sanding the rust off and blowing off the loosened rust, I painted on the paint. Not too bad...

I decided to try DIY-ing a free-hand color blocking gel manicure. Here's what I chose: Ooh la Liscious Paparazzied And The Winner Is Red Carpet Manicure's   from the  Tips & Tricks Set  The coral color (left) is "Ooh la Liscious" and the magenta color (right) is "Paparazzied". I applied the "Ooh la Liscious" on the base of each nail, and cured them. Then, I applied the "Paparazzied" on the tips, and cured them.  Lastly, for the artsy part: "And  the Winner Is" and a dotting tool. I used the dotting end to draw a line in between the two colors, to "pop" the contrast.   After curing the art work, and clear coat, then more curing, the final product: Fun, funky, and warm weather appropriate! It took about 10 - 15 minutes to do this, and should last about 2 weeks.

This post is about the most ambitious salvage yet! I had a laptop that dropped dead.... So, I was very fortunate that someone I knew was getting ready to dispose of an old Gateway 450ROG laptop. So, after the hard drive was wiped, I was given this. So.... Here's what it looked like, scratched and blah.   CNet's Review of Gateway's 450ROG. I went to the Hobby Lobby in Millville, NJ and bought a can of "German Silver" spray paint and some Testors Contour Putty. They came from the model making section, and were labeled as "plastic safe". I filled in the Gateway logo with the molding putty. I let it dry and then sanded it and buffed it down. I sanded and buffed the rest of the top of the laptop. It helps the paint bond better. I had the pleasure of doing a DIY manicure with a new color in my collection: "Jem" (ZP575) by Zoya. It's a dark berry with sparkle. Love it!!!! It's a great contrast to my super pale skin! I was interested in going from a dark manicure to a light one last night, so I used two polishes..... I started off with Revlon Colorstay "Bare Bones #300" (above). Then, I added a coat of Revlon's Fast Dry "230 Popular" (it's a pale pinky-peach with different sizes of glitter). It's a nice, early spring combo.....

I had a little fun with nail polish this weekend. I used two Revlon colors: Revlon Colorstay in 200: Stormy Night (a concrete/ cement gray) topped by Revlon 230: Popular (a ballet pink with lots-o-glitter). The resulting color looked like a glittery lilac!

I'm thrilled to hear that the "Hunger Games" polish set is back on! Due to the lawsuits, the colors will remain, but the names will change. The colors are so pretty!!!
