Quickie DIY Marc by Marc Jacobs Top Refashion

Image
I bought a Marc by Marc Jacobs top through an online "previously loved" threadflipping clothing website. My size. Love the colors. I can wear it with lots of things I have in my wardrobe. Figure flattering. In came in, and it looked great. The "girls" look fantastic, but the arms... Meh... the elastic and sleeve length was not great. So, out came the seam ripper.  No more elastic..... So much better. I love it now!

Quickie Refashion: The Silk Animal Print Button Front Top

Image
I'm sorry for not posting for a while. A lot has been going on in my personal life.... I got a new day job at a local utility company. I love it!  Anyway..... This is my latest refashion. It's a "quickie" that anyone can do. It's "August Silk" 100% silk button front top that had two front pockets. I got it at a local thrift shop for $4. Men usually have shirt pockets. I don't like them because they make my ample "girls" look weird, and the pockets gape open. Here's the before, complete with my male ginger tabby, Mookie in the background.  Here's a close-up of the top with the pockets. Look... the pattern on the pockets don't even match the shirt. They look really "not-so-good". Here's the after, with the pockets removed. Much better, and very appropriate for my day job. All I did was take my trusty seam ripper to the seams that held down those offending pockets. It took no more than 10 min...

Fun with Hershey's Chocolate Almond Spread from Crowdtap

Image
I received a container of   Hershey's Spreads (Chocolate with Almond)  from  Crowdtap .  We had a small family gathering of 7 people. We had  Bartlett pears and Red Delicious apples with the Chocolate Almond Spread. We also made Chocolate-Almond Banana Frozen Puddings. Yum! We had six bananas, about half of the jar of spread, and a snack size of chocolate pudding in the blender. It was messy, but quite yummy. Hey.... I'm not a food stylist... I'm a DIY-er. Needless to say, the Chocolate Almond Spread was great, down to the finger-licking leftover bits!

DIY BB Cream from Samples and a Repurposed Container

Image
I was doing some cleaning and organizing this weekend in my makeup area, and I found a BB Cream Sample from  Pond's Luminous Finish BB Cream (Light) ,  Urban Decay's Naked Skin Beauty Balm Broad Spectrum SPF 20  and  Boscia's BB Cream Light Broad Spectrum SPF27 . I also had a partial tube of  Garnier BB Cream Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector .  I also just finished a tube of  Philosophy's Miracle Worker Dark Spot Corrector . I had a "brainstorm" moment.... instead of throwing out the used up (airtight) tube, how about I repurpose it for my BB creams? I used a pair of vise grips, and grasped down on the bottle where the top joins the rest of the bottle. I applied just enough pressure to remove the applicator (top) off the bottle. Then, I used a pair of tweezers to depress the floating bottom of the tube, and I cleaned out the tube. I depressed the nozzle, to make sure no product was left behind. Then, I empti...

DIY Aerogarden 7 Reflector Power - Grow Light Booster

Image
We received an  Aerogarden 7  for Christmas. We are very excited to try gardening indoors, and we are hoping that this will be a jump on healthier living. Here's what it looks like on their website: Here's how it looks now.  We have set it up just a couple day ago, and I saw the Youtube video Grow Light Boosters Time Lapse: So, I decided to make one with what I had.  I cut open an oversized cardboard box. I cut a slit for the lamp power cord. Sized it to make sure it wrapped around only three sides. I ate a bag of chips with the family. For science. of course. I cut open the bag, cleaned it and used it for reflector material. I taped the bag, along with some aluminum foil to the box while taking care to make sure it folded up around the Aerogarden. Here it is, all set up. Wish us luck, please. I am hoping to get a bounty of herbs: basil, dill, cilantro, chives, parsley, thyme and mint.

Review: Tarte Energy Lipsurgence Skintuitive Lip Tint

Image
Before Christmas, I was asked what I wanted to receive for a Christmas gift. So, went around to both Sephora and Ulta to swatch different cosmetics. I came across the sampler "Try Me" size of Tarte Energy LipSurgence Skintuitive Lip Tint  and swatched it on the back of my hand. I really liked how it looked, so I asked for it for Christmas.   Happily, I received it for Christmas!   Here's what I looked like before application:  Here's it what I look like immediately after application:   This is a close up after a few minutes. According to the Tarte website, it changes color by the skin pH. I really like it, because it gives me a perky, bright pink, along with a light, mighty flavor. The tint lasts through some eating and drinking too!
